With a large ball of ceramic replacing a conventional handle, the Normann Copenhagen Familia Cup asks that you approach it with a similar grasp to the one you’d use when holding a door knob. It takes but a short while to grow accustomed to this unusual approach; usually by the end of the first cuppa you’ll be immediately keen on pouring another, growing ever accustom to the comfortable grip.
When designing the Familia range for Norman Copenhagen, Ole Jensen became inspired by the beautiful simplicity of 6000 year-old Mesopotamia pottery – with its round handles and simplistic plates, this era of design had no complexity and ostentatiousness. This feel has been perfectly recreated in this timeless bone china collection.
